Hi, I’m Chelsea!

My passion is to help those who are in any life transition. Whether that’s beginning the journey of parenthood, exploring your identity or healing from past traumas I love to help with it all!

My Approach

I feel that therapy should be a collaborative experience. No one knows your life better than you do. My job is to make the best educated guess as to what going on with what information you provide. The rest is us putting together the pieces together.

I value teaching my client the skills so they can do it on their own and fire me eventually!

I also value making sure your therapist is a good fit for you. If you don’t vibe with me, that’s okay! I want to help you on your journey and if that just me helping you find someone you mesh with I am happy to help!

Training

I attended Oakland University and received my bachelors in Elementary Education with an Early Childhood Endorsement.

I had about 13 years experience in the education field when I recognized I wanted to help people in a different way where it wasn’t as limiting as teaching was.

I then attended Eastern Michigan University for my Masters in Social work to become a therapist!

My passion is trauma, Parenthood, and self-discovery but I am open to any and all needs that my clients may have. I have Advanced training in Perinatal mental health (PMH), and EMDR Trained.

How would you describe your style as a therapist?

I’d describe my style as compassionate, curious, and empowering. I believe therapy should feel like a partnership where we work together to make sense of what’s happening, find new perspectives, and build the skills and confidence to move forward.

What communities or populations are you most passionate about supporting?

I’m passionate about supporting individuals who are navigating trauma, identity, and major life transitions. I especially love working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, people exploring their sense of self, and those in the perinatal period — from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond.

What's a misconception about therapy you wish more people understood?

That therapy isn’t just for when things are falling apart. It’s also a space to grow, reflect, and get to know yourself better. Many people come to therapy thinking it means something is “wrong” with them but therapists don’t “fix” you we help you find your own strength and clarity. Healing isn’t about becoming someone new, it’s about reconnecting with who you already are underneath the pain or patterns.

What’s your favorite metaphor or phrase to use in therapy?

Trauma is like a true crime map together, we’ll piece together the clues, connect the missing parts, and make sense of how your story fits together so you can start to heal.

How do you support clients who are new to therapy and a little nervous?

I go at the speed of my client. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, opening up to someone new takes courage. My role is to create a space that feels safe, supportive, and never rushed, so you can share at your own pace and in your own way

What inspired you to become a therapist?

I have been through my fair share of trauma and other mental health struggles. I know what it is like to sit on the client's side of the room and build myself back up. I wanted to become someone that could help people like my therapist helped me. It was truly life changing for me.

Cats, dogs, or emotional support houseplants?

I have all three! I have two dogs, Scout (beagle) Finn (a mix) plus two twin cats Hazel and Louie. I am also learning how to be a plant mom. It’s definitely a full and fun house!

What’s a book, movie, or show you wish you could experience again for the first time?

Book: Here We Go Again - Alison Cochrun

Movie: About time - favorite Rom-Dram

Show: Definitely Schitt’s Creek. Its a very underrated show!
